For several days, we've looked at ways to get low-cost logos for your business, group or other entity - here and here. Now, we'll discuss ways you can get a logo for $0.

Enroll A Student

Check with the graphics arts or advertising programs at universities, colleges and junior colleges in your area. Often, graphics students are assigned logo design projects as part of their class requirements. And most serious graphics students would rather have a real-world example in their portfolios than a made-up class assignment.

Ask one or two if they'll design a logo for your business in exchange for giving them printed examples - your letterhead, business cards, website - to use as portfolio samples when they go looking for a job. It could be a win-win for both of you.

VistaPrint Logos

You may already know of VistaPrint as a source for inexpensive (even free) business cards and other printed pieces. But you may not know that they offer a free  logo design option.

The logos are fairly simple and generic but if you feel your business must have a logo, and your budget is zip, it's a quick and painless way to get through the process. You can try it out here.

Go Logo-less

Who ever said that every company needs a logo? If you really can't afford a decent logo, why not just skip this phase?

In fact, some research suggests that logos may not help companies all that much. Read about that here.

You might be wise to put your energy into giving better customer service, finding a more accessible business location or other basics of success. You can always create a logo later when you have the budget to do it right. (Or not!)
